Revolut commits to boosting women in engineering positions with a new grant Five grants of up to £5,000 are on offer for top Engineering interns Applicants will gain access to Revolut’s Rev-Women community, benefiting from career coaching and workshops

Revolut, the global fintech with over 10 million UK customers and 45 million globally, has today announced the launch of its new Rev-Women in Engineering Grant, offering five grants of up to £5,000 to top talent in the 2025 intern cohort of future women in engineering.

The programme is designed to invest in the next generation of women inengineering, by supporting talent across UK and European universities. Five grants of up to £5,000, paid in local currency, are available to the best interns who apply and successfully complete the internship in a Software Engineering role, ensuring they have financial freedom to complete their studies and focus on developing their careers.

Women make up just 25% of the workforce in the tech industry, and an even smaller percentage of those work in engineering roles. The engineering sector as a whole saw a drop in the percentage of female engineers in the UK from 16.5% in 2023 to 15.7% in 2024.* Revolut is committed to improving gender diversity both within tech and engineering, and are encouraging applications from all individuals identifying as women to apply to the programme.

Applicants will have access to industry-leading mentoring and career-coaching from the Rev-women community, including training and workshops to build career skills and confidence. The grant is open to applications from identifying women studying STEM degrees in Spain, Poland, Portugal, and the UK, who are predicted to achieve equivalent to a 2.1 or above upon graduation.**

Michelle Muyunda, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Specialist at Revolut, commented: “Unfortunately, there simply aren’t enough women engineers across the industry. We want to change this. We want all women to feel that a successful career in engineering is within reach, and with our new grant, we hope we can remove a barrier for this intake of women that enables them to take a seat at the table. We’re excited to welcome our new engineers and see them thrive at Revolut.”

Francesca Carlesi, Revolut’s UK CEO, added:“Investing in top female talent is incredibly important to us. It can be difficult to attract talent into typically male-dominiated roles, but we’re committed to developing new ways to get more women working in high growth STEM industries. Our Rev-Women in Engineering grant is the latest initiative from Revolut to promote more women in the fintech industry and I look forward to welcoming next year’s intake and supporting them in their journey to become engineers.”

Cecilia Laitano, Software Engineer at Revolut, commented:“We’re focused on fostering diversity and inclusion in tech, and with the launch of our new Women in Engineering grant, we’re excited to invite more women to join our innovative software engineering team and build a rewarding career with us. We can’t wait to meet the next generation of driven women in engineering at Revolut!”
